Absolutely gorgeous church and really does well with the urban fabric of Kumayri district. Fascinating and the ornamentation is great. Also has a great location for other amenities.

The Church of St. Gregory the Illuminator was built in 1870-1880 with donations from the residents of the Dzor district of Gyumri. The church had a three-nave, central-domed structure and a small bell tower. The population living in the area adjacent to the church was engaged in farming and cattle breeding. That is why the people called the church Geghtsonts Zham. During the Soviet Union, the church's dome was demolished and the church was turned into a warehouse. The church was weakened by the 1988 Spitak earthquake, but did not collapse. Additional fortifications were used to stop the church from collapsing further, but the church was never renovated. In 2003, the church collapsed on its own. Only the nave for worship services remained standing. Later, in 2015, it was rebuilt.
